LONDON – 11 February, 2021 – nVent Electric plc (NYSE:NVT) (“nVent”), a global leader in electrical connection and protection solutions, is pleased to announce the launch of an open application programming interface (API) for its premium nVent RAYCHEM SENZ WIFI electric underfloor heating thermostat, allowing developers to seamlessly incorporate underfloor heating into Building Management Systems (BMS) or smart home networks. Freely available via the nVent RAYCHEM open API website (, the SENZ WIFI’s new source coding enables tech developers and system integrators to add a completely customized underfloor heating network to virtually any building management or home heating system, helping to bring the benefits of premium, connected underfloor heating to any application.

In conjunction with the release of the open API, nVent is also announcing the launch of a dedicated Alexa Skill and Google Action for the SENZ WIFI thermostat, which allows under floor heating control to be integrated with leading digital assistants such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, as well as the Amazon Echo and Google Home smart speaker ranges. This will enable end users to control their floor heating hands-free for the first time using voice commands.

“In recent years, we’ve seen building management networks grow to incorporate everything from hot water temperature maintenance, to lighting, fire suppression and security systems, but the integration of heating has often lagged behind,” says Thomas Vranken, nVent Marketing Manager. “We’re pleased to offer smart device and BMS integration, as well as voice command capabilities, via release of the open API for the SENZ WIFI thermostat. Through this enhanced connectivity we not only hope to add to the many unique benefits of electric underfloor heating, but also make them more convenient and easier to access than ever before.”

Originally launched in 2016, the SENZ thermostat range represented a milestone in the development of smart, connected technology for the commercial and home heating markets by offering advanced WIFI connectivity, adaptive energy saving modes and an intuitive touch-screen user interface. In line with the continued rise of the Internet of Things (IoT), the release of the new open API for the SENZ WIFI demonstrates nVent’s commitment to continuous advancement and the application of smart technology to improve the systems people and businesses rely on every day.
